The Problem with PACS

Med Imaging has been faithfully servicing hundreds of NHS Trust hospitals for over 15 years. During the most recent PACS contract period the impact on our customers of implementation cost overruns, unanticipated support needs and restrictions on product upgrades outside of original contracts, have been significant.

Furthermore we have observed that inefficient communication between end-users within the Trust and the PACS support providers has created unnecessary delays to proper patient care.

The solution

In 2005 we launched an initiative to provide a better solution.

Our extensive experience within Radiology and the supply, installation and maintenance of multi-vendor systems has given us a unique insight into every aspect of the implementation, management and servicing of complex networked PACS systems, including HL7 interfacing.

During the LSP (local service provider) contract period, Med Imaging has worked closely with many customers across the UK and within Europe to ensure the successful and complete integration of many non-compliant diagnostic imaging modalities. These include; the integration to both RIS and PACS systems of cardiovascular equipment, ultrasound departments, legacy screening rooms, MRI, 3D workstations and endoscopy systems as well as integration of dynamic video acquisition with synchronized sound for speech therapy.

Our success is achieved by innovation, teamwork and good communication both within the company and with our customers. This helps us to identify customer needs and provide efficient solutions that fall well within budget.

We recognise that cost efficiency and savings are the driving element for many projects and aim to achieve high standards whilst still providing significant cost saving benefits of typically 20%.

Our partnership

Over the LSP contract period our focus has been to identify forward thinking PACS companies which have proven capability and successfully provided and serviced image management solutions to large, demanding healthcare facilities in the USA.

Although in complete compliance with rigid FDA, IHE and ISO standards, many of these companies have no UK or EU experience and are unfamiliar with those countries health agency guidelines.

CoActiv Medical is a company with UK content at the core of their product and in their diagnostic tool set. The company consistently scored well above other established UK & EU providers in 3rd party evaluations (based on research by KLAS).

We strongly believe the partnership of our two companies will succeed in providing a world class, highly reliable and clinically functional PACS solution.
